1915-2025: 110 years of scout offering in Albenga! 🎂
On Saturday 29 March, "SCOUT PARK" 🎡 arrives in the historic centre of Albenga, an afternoon of games and activities open to the city's children and young people, to celebrate together the centenary anniversary of the youth movement's presence in the city.
There will also be a historical exhibition curated by the "Mario Mazza" Scout Study and Documentation Centre to learn about the mission and retrace the events that have marked the journey over the decades of the AGESCI – Italian Catholic Guide and Scout Association and MASCI Italian Catholic Adult Scout Movement associations.
It was 1915 when Don Umberto Barbera, with the support of Canon Don Ferdinando Isola, enriched the offering made to the city's young people within the context of the Sacred Heart Work with the scout path. From that day on, in the various forms the organisation has taken over the years, hundreds of children and young people from Albenga and the surrounding towns have had the opportunity to grow in an educational context that, through games, adventure, and service, aims to educate good citizens who want to "leave the world better than they found it."
The initiative will take place in the historic centre starting at 2:30 PM and has received the patronage and support of the Municipality of Albenga and Bishop H.E. Msgr. Guglielmo Borghetti, who will celebrate a Holy Mass at 6 PM with the young people, leaders, and families.
